Lots going on at Marprof in probably our first full month of trading. As i write of course, its only half way through, but next week is Christmas, and its snowing in the Alps, (so the office is moving temporarily!)
Asbestos: Several meetings with similar companies and shipowners and a paper on ship asbestos risk started. Worrying information about possible impractical application of requirements – watch this space. Asbestos is a terrible scourge but the response must be proportionate.
Ship recycling: Interesting meetings, some informal approvals in principle, paperwork moving between parties.
Defence and Submarines: Formal registration accepted, details being worked through.
Nuclear: Some exciting possibilities on the horison and relevant communication in hand.
UK Opportunities: Several interesting projects being explored.
ISO / BSi: Catching
up with huge ISO backlog. BSi awards ceremony. Progressing lots of standards.
Security: Attended UKSec – UK’s main security expo at Olympia. Met up with lots of old friends and contacts, met the new people in the industry, made people aware of Marprof plans. Looking good for both Cyber security and maritime security. New draft of ISO maritime Security standard developed and sent for comment. Meeting in new year re Floating Armouries.
RINA: Elected to Safety Committee and attended the IMO Committee Christmas bash – many ways forward on many subjects agreed.
